The Reverend Father Michael Lynch (+) passed away on the 30th of November, 2017. Fr. Lynch was born in Dublin, Ireland, and studied for the priesthood at All Hallows Convent, Dublin. He was ordained in Dublin the 22nd day of June, 1958, and appointed assistant priest at the parish of the Sacred Heart in Leicester from 1958 to 1960, when he was moved to the parish of Christ the King, Alfreton. In 1964, Fr. Lynch returned to Leicester, to the parish of Our Lady of Good Counsel. In 1966, he was appointed parish priest of S. Helen's, Oldcotes, moving from there to the parish S. Joseph in Oakham in 1970. In 1985, he moved to the parish of S. Peter and S. Paul. In 1996, he returned to Leicester, to the parish of S. Patrick, where he remained until his retirement in 2000. He retired to Lincoln and assisted the clergy at the parish of S. Peter and S. Paul until recently. He will be greatly missed by the clergy and the people of the diocese whom he served.

Mass with the reception of the body of Fr. Lynch will be offered on the 12th day of December at 19.00 at the parish church of S. Peter and S. Paul. The requiem Mass will be offered at the same church, on the 13th day of December at 11.30. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.
