Prepare the Future

Re-open the parish

Building parishes of welcome, listening and hope

Here's what people have been saying about Prepare the Future workshops:

  • 'Good to hear what others are doing and share our own experiences, and seek advice'
  • 'Excellent...meeting us where we are at the moment'
  • 'Helps me discern what a way forward for our parish might be'

Re-weave your parish at our next 'Prepare the Future' workshop

Our monthly diocesan Prepare the Future workshops are an opportunity to find help, ideas and practical advice for re-opening your parish for mission after lockdown.

Here are some typical topics we explore:

  • Setting up a parish telephone befriending scheme such as Two's Company
  • Building a Census and skills audit for the post-pandemic parish
  • Opening a drop-in centre or listening café in your parish hall
  • Developing a toolkit to help you navigate safeguarding, data protection and other requirements
  • Connecting across ethnic and diaspora communities in our parishes
  • Exploring a model for mutual aid for families and individuals, rooted in Catholic social teaching
  • Parish Councils organising for mission in the post-Covid Church
  • Renovating and upgrading parish facilities for outreach.
