IEC vigil of prayer - Saturday, the 21st of November, 2020

Published 20th of November 2020

"Jesus Christ, when saying farewell to His disciples, sent them into the whole world to proclaim the gospel. He promised to be with them 'always, until the end of the age.' He is with us in his teaching, in his mercy, in his sacraments, but most specially in the celebration of the Eucharist and in the Blessed Sacrament that we adore outside the Holy Mass, too.

On the Saturday of the Feast of Christ the King, 21st November, we invite again everyone for a worldwide adoration. In the current epidemiological situation, where there is no opportunity to gather in our churches, we can also join in from our homes with our personal prayers. Let us take part in this common adoration, join in with your parish, your community and your family! Let this worldwide adoration be the next station of our preparation for the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest, and let us relive the regenerating love of God."

The International Eucharistic Congress for 2020 has now been postponed until next year. As stated above, Cardinal Erdő of Budapest-Estergom has asked that all parishes arrange a Holy Hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday the 21st November, which is the vigil of the Solemnity of Christ the King. Cardinal Nichols in Westminster has also asked us to pray at this time for all those affected by the present health crisis and the consequent restrictions in England and Wales.

The Bishop and Father Rose will be leading prayer during an hour of Adoration at the chapel in Bishop's House from 16.00 to 17.00 in the afternoon. That will be made available from the Bishop’s YouTube channel:

Participants can add their locations and events to the map by clicking “Create new location.”

The organisers of the Congress have prepared their own introduction to this prayer invitation at
