Commission of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

During his time on earth Our Lord taught by word and example. Before any major event in his life he went to a quiet place to pray and prepare himself. Mindful of his example candidates for the Extraordinary Ministry of Holy Communion meet at various locations throughout the diocese for a non-residential weekend of instruction, prayer, reflection and comradeship.

The course commences on Saturday morning and concludes on Sunday afternoon with Mass. In addition, and in conjunction with the Diocesan Youth Service, we are offering a residential weekend for Sixth Formers and other candidates aged 25 and under. This 'youth weekend' will be further publicised through the School and Chaplains network, but we do welcome any applications from parishes too.

Following the course each candidate decides whether to proceed to commissioning or not.

Applications to attend any of these courses must be made through your Parish Priest or Chaplain and your application must be approved by him. Your PP or Chaplain has the requisite application forms. These forms can also be downloaded below. The non-residential Formation Courses will run each weekend Saturday and Sunday 0930 – 1630. We are not offering accommodation this year, though candidates may of course make their own arrangements as necessary Candidates can choose any weekend convenient to them and we expect that they will be able to make both sessions to ensure that the full curriculum is covered.
