10 February 2026, 7.00-8.30 on Zoom
Jesus called twelve friends to be his first disciples. As he surely knew, we can build trust and grow in faith much more deeply in a small group than in a large congregation.
Many Christians around the world meet in ‘cell groups’ or ‘base communities’ where members can explore faith, support each other and enrich the life of their church. They have much to offer us here in Nottingham diocese: spiritual hunger is growing, parishes are growing in size, and pastoral care is increasingly a shared responsibility.
Fr Victor Vella oversees PECS England, a group of laity and clergy who support and promote the Parish Evangelisation Cell System (PECS) first pioneered by the Archdiocese of Milan within Catholic Parishes in England. He will share their vision for small communities in parishes which meet, worship, pray and grow together. Also joining us will be Fr Dominic O’Connor, Dean of South Lincolnshire on the contribution cell groups can make in his own parish of Boston.
