As the season of Advent draws near, we invite you to step away from the busyness of everyday life and join us at The Briars for ADVENTure 2025 — a weekend retreat designed to help you pause, pray, and prepare for the coming of Christ.

From Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, this special programme blends prayer, community, reflection, and fun in the beautiful surroundings of The Briars. Whether you’re new to retreats or a regular visitor, ADVENTure offers something for everyone — time to reconnect with faith, meet new friends, and celebrate the joy and hope of Advent.

The Journey Begins – Friday Evening

Arrivals begin from 5.30pm, followed by a rolling dinner to welcome everyone to The Briars. The evening continues with games, helping everyone settle in and get to know one another.
Later, we’ll gather for “Light in the Darkness”, a reflective session introducing the weekend’s theme, before closing with Night Prayer and some relaxed social time.

Saturday – Growing in Faith and Community

After breakfast at 9.00am, the morning opens with Morning Prayer and the lighting of the Advent Wreath — a beautiful symbol of hope and anticipation.
Throughout the day, there’s a rich mix of Advent Catechesis, Mass preparation, and activities designed to deepen faith and build friendship.
In the evening, we come together for a joyful Mass, followed by a celebration of faith, friendship, and festive cheer!

Sunday – Reflection and Sending Forth

Sunday begins with a final Morning Prayer and time to reflect at the Prayer Stations and Reconciliation.
We’ll gather for Affirmations and our Final Liturgy, celebrating all that we’ve shared and learned together.
After lunch, we’ll say our goodbyes and begin our journeys home — renewed, inspired, and ready to share the light of Advent with the world.

ADVENTure 2025 isn’t just a retreat — it’s an experience of faith, fun, and fellowship that marks the true beginning of Advent.
