On Saturday 25th September, around 100 people gathered to seek the grace of Christ’s love and mercy.
The Adult Formation for Mission Department invited Unbound UK Ministry to deliver an inspiring day of testimonies and mediations, for any individual desiring to be liberated from shame, anger and the pain of past sins.
The event took place at St Barnabas Cathedral in central Nottingham and began with Mass with the Anointing of the Sick, celebrated by Bishop Patrick McKinney; during which congregants were encouraged to seek healing for physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual wounds.

Mass was followed by a talk from Sue Walsh, the UK Coordinator and representative for Unbound Ministry, who spoke about the reasons people might be blocked from receiving the healing and freedom which God desires for us.
Sue explained that wounds which result from unresolved trauma in our lives can be manipulated by the Devil to foster discouragement and self-loathing. She told participants: “God’s plan is always greater. His desire is not just to heal our pain but to restore us fully, body, mind, and spirit, so that we can walk in our true identity as beloved sons and daughters of God the Father.”

After lunch, Anne Morton, leader of ‘Unbound Lincoln’ talked about the five-step programme, authored by Unbound, which pave the way to deliverance. The ‘Five Keys of Unbound’ begin with Repentance; Forgiveness and Renunciation of sin, and conclude with embracing our spiritual authority to reject sin and accepting the love of our heavenly Father.
Following the talk, a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament took place, during which Sue Walsh led a guided meditation on the theme of the Five Keys. There was beautiful praise and worship led by the One Hope Project and the opportunity for Confession.
The day concluded with a Healing Service where participants were invited to touch the garment of Jesus, remembering the Bible passage about the sick woman who believed if she could only touch the hem of Christ’s cloak; she would be healed.

Each person in the Church was then encouraged to come forward for a moment of personal encounter with Jesus in the Monstrance, to seek and receive his powerful healing.
“It was truly amazing to see people healed in this way,” Joe Hopkins, Director of Adult Formation for Mission commented. “Christ’s healing did not end when he ascended and Saturday was a powerful reminder that through the sacramental life of the Church, we can receive the healing touch of Jesus. It was a wonderful day, where people of all ages- children, young parents, people in their 80s and 90s- were transformed.”
