Plan awareness-raising in your own parish in the upcoming Season of Creation, in September and early October. Hear what parishes have done to earn Cafod's Livesimply Award. And find out more about 'Pioneer Parishes', the diocesan scheme to scout the journey to zero carbon and make our churches a place where nature finds a home.

7.00 p.m. on Thursday 21 July by Zoom

In 2001 it was Pope John Paul II who first called for an 'ecological conversion'. Two decades on there's no mistaking the need for it - not only for ourselves but also for the Church. Here in the Diocese of Nottingham we're inviting you and your parish to step out on this journey of faith, inspired by Pope Francis' visionary 'green encyclical' Laudato Si'.

Caritas, the Diocese's department for social action, supports a network of Laudato Si Champions - people like you who see how our Catholic faith and our carbon footprint are intertwined. Whether you've already been to previous workshops, or would simply like to explore the links and 'earth' your faith, you will be warmly welcome to this informal workshop on 21 July.

We're also inviting 'Pioneer Parishes' to scout the journey to zero carbon and make our churches a place where nature finds a home - all inspired by an encounter with Christ who holds all creation together (Colossians 1).

At this workshop, as well as an introduction to 'faith and our environmental footprint' we'll help each other develop eco-initiatives in our parishes and homes. We'll hear what some parishes have done to earn Cafod's Livesimply Award. In particular we'll focus on the opportunities for awareness-raising in the upcoming Season of Creation, in September and early October, and we'll explore the materials and resources you could use in your parish.
