Imagine standing among a million young people from every country on earth, at Mass with the Pope, in a city you've never visited, with your own faith pressed up against someone else's for the first time. That is what World Youth Day does.

World Youth Day 2027 takes place in Seoul, South Korea, from Saturday 1 to Monday 10 August 2027. It is one of the largest gatherings of young Catholics in the world — a ten-day encounter with the global Church, held under the leadership of Pope Leo. The Diocese of Nottingham is going, and there's a place for you.

Who can come

This trip is open to Catholics aged 18 to 35 from anywhere in the Diocese. You don't need to be especially devout or confident in your faith. You need to be curious, and willing to go.

International pilgrimages are expensive, and we know that. Fundraising opportunities and flexible payment plans are available. If cost is the thing that's stopping you, have a conversation with Charles first — that conversation costs nothing.

Applications close 31 July 2026.

FAQ

Do I need to be a practising Catholic to come? You need to be Catholic and aged 18–35. What you do with your faith is between you and God — WYD has a way of working on that.

What does it actually cost, and is there financial help? We'll be publishing full pricing shortly. Payment plans and fundraising support are available. Contact Charles to talk it through.

What will I actually be doing for ten days? The programme includes catechesis sessions, liturgies, cultural exchange events, and the closing Mass with the Pope. There's also significant unstructured time — travelling with a group, exploring Seoul, meeting young Catholics from every part of the world.

Is this trip run by the Diocese of Nottingham? Yes. It is organised through Charles Archer, Young Adult Ministry Lead, based at the Diocese of Nottingham.
