The Nottingham Diocese Catholic Youth Service is delighted to be hosting a virtual ‘open evening’ for all those working with, or thinking about working with young people in parishes, chaplaincies and other settings in the Diocese of Nottingham.

Join youth service staff, via Zoom, on Wednesday 1st October at 7pm and learn how your diocesan youth service can serve you and your young people, in your local setting.

This short interactive webinar, will be an opportunity for NDCYS to share the exciting programme of events and opportunities they have planned for young people across the diocese over this academic year. From open retreats, to deanery retreat days, to pilgrimages and much more- there is something for every young person, wherever they are on their faith journey and, for adult volunteers, there will be support to help you accompany young people to these events and activities.

Staff from the Youth Service will also be sharing about the exciting youth ministry training programme they have designed for this coming year.  The programme is aimed at giving priests and people the inspiration, tools, training and confidence they need to begin, or to further develop, their work with young people in a parish context. This FREE course is a direct response to feedback from the recent Youth Service Review, which identified an overwhelming need to better support adults across the Diocese in developing and delivering youth ministry at local level.

Finally, there will be an opportunity to hear about the work of the Briars Retreat Centre and the fantastic set of retreat programmes currently on offer. Each programme helps young people encounter Jesus Christ in new ways and is rooted in prayer, the Church’s teaching, fellowship and fun. Each of these programmes can be adapted - in terms of length and location - to meet the needs of your parish groups.

NDCYS aspires to be at the service of all those working with young people in the Diocese of Nottingham, so if you’re an adult volunteer, a parent, a priest, a religious or chaplain then this webinar is for YOU.

If you have a parish youth group or ministry, or you have young people who serve at Mass, or you offer a Confirmation for teens in your parish, or maybe you’ve chaperoned young people to events like Flame, or have young people engaged in the Faith in Action Award or you might be engaging young people in social action or other ways- then this webinar is for YOU.

Or maybe your parish doesn’t have any of these things but you are conscious of the need to reach out to young people but aren’t sure where or how to get started- then this webinar is for YOU.

No commitment, no strings attached- just 30 minutes of your time to see what’s on offer for young people in the Diocese of Nottingham, and to learn about the support and training that’s on offer to all those adults who accompany or want to start to accompany young people in their parishes, chaplaincies or other settings.
