Online training in end-of-life care for clergy, deacons, chaplains and parish administrators. Two dates: Monday 19 October 2–4pm and Monday 26 October 7–9pm. Led by Dr Julia Verne. Register with Ongoing Formation.
Ministering to the dying and the bereaved is one of the most profound — and most demanding — things a priest, deacon, or chaplain is called to do. The pressure on health and social care means that emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs often go unmet by the system. That gap falls to us.
Ongoing Formation for the Diocese of Nottingham is offering bespoke online training in end-of-life care, developed in collaboration with artofdyingwell.org and presented by Dr Julia Verne — a palliative care physician with almost two decades of national leadership in palliative care from a public health perspective.
The training is designed to help participants understand the natural dying process, build practical skills, and enhance communication while accompanying the dying. Special emphasis is placed on integrating the practical, spiritual, and human dimensions of end-of-life ministry.
The webinar runs for two hours and is available on two dates — attend whichever suits:
