Study day on the emotions and Christian holiness, led by the Dominican Sisters. The Frassati Centre, Leicester, Saturday 10 October 2026, 10am–4:30pm. Free. Ages 20s–30s. Booking essential.
What do our emotions have to do with holiness? Are our feelings something to control, overcome, or simply accept?
This study day explores the Thomistic understanding of the passions — the emotions and movements of our human nature — and why they are not a distraction from the Christian life, but an important part of what it means to be human. To understand them, we'll look to Christ himself: what did Jesus experience when he became angry, sorrowful, or joyful?
The day then explores how our passions relate to the moral life. Emotions in themselves are neither good nor bad — but they can be trained and ordered towards what is truly good. Far from suppressing our emotions, Christian holiness involves bringing them into harmony with reason and virtue.
Led by the Dominican Sisters, the day includes talks, workshops, prayer, fellowship, and discussion. Lunch is provided.
The study day is open to young adults in their 20s and 30s, including those looking to deepen their faith or new to the Catholic tradition. There is no cost to attend, but booking is essential — register at the link below.
